Short Bio:

I love photographing people, telling stories with my images and offering beautiful artwork and exceptional service to my clients! My business has grown and changed so much in the past 5 years. When things quickly switched from hoping to have work to being buried in work I realized how much I prefer to limit my weddings and sessions in order to offer a high level of customer service. I learned how important it was to understand owning a business as much as I understand and love photography (or else I wouldn’t have one very long!) Over the past year and a half, with the help of a business coach and my assistant/graphic designer Kristi Webb, I’ve completed tons of projects aimed at improving Angel Gray Photography. I opened my studio in the Spring of 2010 and really enjoy having that space. I had the privilege this year of being chosen by ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition to shoot one of their families who were given a new home in a neighboring town to mine and that was fun! Most recently I’m on the verge of releasing a brand new multimedia service to families called “The Legacy Project” and I’m incredibly excited because the idea grew out of my personal experience.
My husband and I have three beautiful children ages 3, 6 and 8 and I’m super honored to be featured here in the midst of so many awesome photographers --huge thanks!

Short Bio-

Growing up, once I realized I wanted to take photos, I had to learn how film worked. When the digital world emerged, I couldn't have been more excited. I couldn't run out of film and I could immediately view the photos I had taken. When I was in high school, I was introduced to a little program called Photoshop. I couldn't believe the endless possiblities Photoshop had to offer. It was then that being a photographer as a career crossed my mind and it became more than just a hobby.
I have always been obsessed with taking photos. I have also always been obsessed with weddings. So what better than to become a wedding and portrait photographer. In 2010, Amber Shaw Photography was established. I was recently voted Best Photographer in the Best of Utah Valley 2011. I plan to be a household name when it comes to wedding and fashion photography.

My style is modern but traditional. Cutting edge but vintage. Chic but daring. I'm obsessed with creating unique photographs. Whatever your personal style and personality, I can capture it.

Elizabeth Taylor Frandsen Photography | Wedding Photography

  • Started in: 2007
  • Status: Part Time
  • Types of Photography: Wedding
  • Primary Camera / Favorite Lens: Nikon D700, 105mm 2.8 macro
  • Interesting Personal Fact: I was first published in a bridal magazine, the Spring 2007 issue of Utah Bride & Groom Magazine, for articles I wrote, not pictures I took.

Bio:

My first dabbling in the creative arts was probably the mud pies I perfected while growing up in the small farm town of Deweyville, Utah. Middle school started my love affair with music, where weekly lessons led me to love and conquer the flute, plus experiment with piano, tenor saxophone & vocal performance. Bear River High English classes uncovered a natural writing talent & landed me as yearbook editor. For the first time I noticed photography but it couldn’t sway me from my written love affair or my high school boyfriend Jordan (who I now call husband).

I entered the University of Utah knowing exactly what I wanted, majoring in Mass Communication. I thrived in the college setting and found a new surprise past time, Latin ballroom dance. I continued assembling a written portfolio I hoped would land me with a major magazine. Meanwhile, missing Jordan, I headed to Moscow Russia to teach English and to get a taste of the country Jordan was serving an LDS mission in. With a new digital camera in tote, I wet my appetite for photography, with Europe providing every subject I could imagine. I returned home, finished my obsession with straight A’s graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree. Ten days later I married Jordan. The next week I started work as a writing intern at Utah Bride & Groom Magazine. I fell in love with the wedding industry, but found myself completely jealous of their staff photographer.

My internship ended and off to New Haven, Connecticut we went. It was there that I decided photography was more than an interest, but an amazing career opportunity for me. I built a portrait portfolio, and then just when weddings began to enter my world, Jordan finished his bachelor degree at Yale University and decided a PhD in biomedical engineering at my alma mater was our future. So we packed up our family, which now included Ella, and moved back to Salt Lake. No surprise, once in Utah, my wedding photography career took off. Once again I found my work published in Utah Bride& Groom Magazine, but this time for photography. Jordan is still busy with school and we’ve now added Hazel to our family lineup, but somehow I feel like I’ve found a needed balance between my life as “mom” and “Elizabeth Taylor Frandsen” this year. We’ll see how long that lasts ;)

Short Bio:

It's always intrigued me how one's childhood can affect their life's path so deeply and my story is no different. Growing up all over the world I developed a love of culture and people's differences. I loved to observe and take pictures in my mind of the beauty I was presented with. I was also raised in a very conservative home where we weren't allowed to watch any movie that was rated higher than PG, so my sister and I developed a love for old movies and musicals... I have my parents to thank for my fascination with Old Hollywood Glamour and all things vintage. I like to think that I was a lover of vintage before it was cool to be one. I decorated my room with antique store finds and old painted tea cups... A voracious reader I also loved to paint pictures in my head of the heroines from my favorite Jane Austen & Elizabeth George Speare novels.

In my art, I like to capture the most beautiful things about a person. I want to capture them the way their loved ones see them... maybe even the way they see themselves at their best. I am lucky enough to have married my best friend, so I know what love can be and it makes my heart warm to see this love all around me in the couples I get to photograph.

I was born and raised in Utah and as I child I was always wondering off looking for new ways of seeing the world around me. My parents encouraged my adventurous personality by engaging me in my surroundings and bringing me to various destinations through the country. During school I had developed a much more in depth understanding of the importance of photography and art in general. My first photography teacher had shown me the true meaning of capturing, documenting and sharing the art of photography. While often being a heavy critic on my own work I still strive to find perfection in all of my photographs. I was published in "The Freefall Review" A quarterly magazine based out of California that encouraged the starving artists from around the country to share their passions with the world. I currently am studying photo journalism in an effort to be placed in situations that allows me to shed light on controversial issues and events.

While I still reside in Salt Lake City I am often on the road looking for those unique photographs of the way life moves around us. I am in the process of working on my first book that will highlight businesses throughout my travels. The book is scheduled to be released within the next 2-4 years as I continue capturing various people and events.

I haven’t always been a “photographer”, in the traditional sense of the word. But what’s the definition of a “photographer” anyway?  For years, in my case, it was driving friends and family crazy while I tried to snap away at them. Truthfully though, my love for photography came full circle when my first child was born.  With every picture I took of him, I saw his silliness, energy, and spirit shine through, memories brought to life with my lens that I will treasure forever. That’s when this unorthodox plan to start my business first started to take hold; I wanted to provide others with that same close-to-the-heart experience. So what was I doing BEFORE photography became my my obsession? A few things, really. I spent 11 years in the corporate world working at a Fortune 50 company, a tiny startup, and a mid-sized nationwide company – hence, my extreme dedication to customer service and smooth operations.  At some point in there, I put my other hobby, graphic design, to work and started freelancing. Freelancing is what put my business goals on the map and helped me determine how to work with clients with creative visions.  As it turns out, advanced graphic design experience, especially with Photoshop, really lends itself well to professional photography. When my second child was born, I took the huge leap from hobbyist to professional and left my day job to focus full time on creating a successful business and a career that I loved. I feel so very fortunate to be excited to go to work every day. Photo sessions are not work for me…they are play time.  I meet a gorgeous set of blue eyes, or a pair of rosy, chubby cheeks and I can’t wait to photograph them. I love meeting new people and giving back to my community. As I continue to challenge my own creativity and business savvy, I look forward to my business continuing to grow.

Hey Hey hey!! I’m Charlotte -or Char as my bff's call me! I am a 40 year old stay at home mom to Sam (11) and Wes (9). Although I am a full-time photographer - I am also a full time cook, housekeeper, teacher, nurse, chauffeur, counselor.... you know the rest!! I love my boys... all of them, including my dear husband of 13 years, Scott. I love our family vacations, the color pink, investigative news shows, anything with barbecue sauce on it, chocolate chip cookies and my Yellow Box flip-flops! And yep... I do have a love for photography. I finished high school in 1987 at the age of 16 and went straight off to college. I have a degree in Marketing, which has really helped my business grow. I believe "less is best" and to keep my business honest! I started this business out of a desire to just get better photos of my first born son. I knew what I wanted, but no one else seemed to. Word spread that I was interested in making this hobby a business and it took of from there!! I have never advertised nor do I set up booths at local shows. I am strictly word of mouth. I believe your reputation is the only thing you need. If you do not take care of your clients... someone else will. I think honesty is the best policy - so if I make a mistake- I deal with it head-on. I believe in keeping your business legal and yes, paying your taxes. I love, love, love meeting people - so photography is THE best way to make new friends. I specialize in Newborns through their first year, High School Seniors and Weddings. I know I cannot be everything to everybody - so specializing in these three areas was the only way to be successful. I am constantly soaking up information, information, information. A good seminar is so worth the investment - And I love meeting up with my photog friends!

That's pretty much me!! Thanks for reading!

I got my first SLR camera in 7th grade and fell in love with it {i still own it and shoot with it from time to time} there is something about film that you will never be able to replace with digital. My favorite part about photography is being able to capture things from my point of view and show people that there is beauty in every thing around us.I shot my first wedding in 2006 but didn't go into business until 2009. My goal as a photographer is to shoot from my heart and make every client feel comfortable and beautiful! I started photography as a hobby when I was 15 and grew to love it.  All through high school I was determined on being a professional photographer. After many photo shoots for my friends and family, I was able to have a website made for all my work. In 2009, I decided photography was just a hobby rather than a career. I changed my major at UVU to Deaf Studies, where I studied signed language for 4 years. Then I decided that wasn't for me either. So now I'm settled on Graphic Design and Web Development, with photography still a major hobby. I still take pictures for any one who needs them, just at a very low cost, because I'm not trying to make a living off of it. I don't charge little because I'm not good at what I do, but because honestly I just love doing it, and would like to be paid just a little for my time that would have normally been spent at work. I've recently gotten into creative concepts with my brother Clint, Louish Pixel, and strobism. I still prefer natural light though. Now that I'm 20, Ive decided to start shooting weddings. Ive been very blessed with my talent and the opportunities that have come with it. I feel very special to be featured on All The Photographer's blog! I just love photography and post production! There's not much else to say!

After I shot my first paid session, I called my husband immediately and said, "THIS is what I am SUPPOSED to be doing!" I am forever grateful that I get paid to do what I love and love what I do. I think it shows in my work.

I have an addiction to Starbucks. Seriously, I'm not sure what they put in their chai tea lattes, but if I don't have one every.single.morning, my family doesn't like me very much :)

I suppose you can say that I am a bit of a late bloomer since I didn't meet my husband until I was 32, had my first child at 33, became a photographer at 38, and had my second child at 39. And you know what, I wouldn't have it any other way!!!!

Like many, I've always adored photography and grew up with a point and shoot almost always tucked in my pocket or bag. It just never crossed my mind to learn the techniques or even do it as a part time job. It was one of those things to me, that seemed out of my reach. I was constantly searching through photographer's sites and my husband noticed it. He surprised me with a DSLR for my birthday 3 days after my first son was born and told me it was time for me to be able to learn! Almost a year later, I became intrigued with film photography; the look, process, post-process, etc... and jumped in head first and have been shooting pretty much 100% film since March and have LOVED it. My favorite is the fact that photography in general is a never ending journey of learning and progressing!

It is an honor to be highlighted on you website, because some of my very favorite photographers have been featured here in the past.  I have loved photography since I was just a little girl, but it wasn’t until I had a family of my own that my opportunities to begin shooting and experimenting with photography became more serious.  Now that my six children are mostly grown, with the youngest being 14, I have more time to pursue things that I really love to do in addition to being a mom, and photography is it!  My family is relieved beyond measure, since I no longer have my camera stuck in their face for every event that they are involved in.  I am able to get my photography fix on other people now!

When I was young, my family did a lot of traveling overseas.  My mother trusted me enough with her camera that I became the designated photographer on many of our trips.  On one occasion, when I was about 9 or 10, a plane we were flying in over Africa was asked to delay landing for some unknown reason.  To pass the time, the pilot flew the plane around the top of Mount Kilimanjaro a couple of times, and my mother handed over the camera for me to start shooting.  I took an entire roll of images through the plane’s window and they came out beautifully.  To this day, one of those photos is enlarged and framed in my parents home.  Ever since that experience, I have always felt like I was capable of taking a pretty good picture!

I enjoy all kinds of photography, but focusing on individuals and couples is my favorite thing to do.  That’s why I love to shoot wedding photography, as well as high school seniors.  They are by far the most fun to be with.  They have to many interesting things to talk about and such big dreams to share.

I have enjoyed creating my business, and am continually trying to learn all that I can to improve my skills.  I prefer not to get locked into one kind of style, but I tend to be drawn to rich and vibrant colors, and I absolutely love a slightly over-processed look to my editing.  If you are ever in Salt Lake City and are looking for a photographer, look me up and let’s go have some fun!

Jake has been filled with an insatiable need to create for as long as he can remember, whether it was a drawing, building a fort, or even writing stand-up comedy. The photography bug was planted in the mid-nineties during a simple Introduction to Photography course. The dark room, the camera, the chemicals all screamed out with possibilities and the next year when Layton High School added a computer lab, complete with the extraordinarily advanced Adobe Photoshop (version 2.5) a long term love-affair was set. As photography meandered it’s way into the digital age the format became increasingly custom-tailored to Jake’s love of instant gratification and attention-deficit tendencies.

Purchasing his first digital SLR camera in 2002 began the transformation of photography from a casual hobby into a bit of an obsession.
