Short Bio

I am a twenty-something wife and mother.  That always comes first. I love art, especially the pre-raphaelite movement (Dicksee, Waterhouse and Leighton are a few favorites), and the "Golden Age of Illustration" (think Arthur Rackham, Kay Nielson and, of course, Maxfield Parrish) and many others.I studied art in high school, earning the Sterling Scholar in art for my school.  I then attended Weber State University on a full tuition art scholarship. After a year of art overload, I quit the art program in favor of my second love, English literature...I love fairy tales.  If WSU had had a folklore major, I might have considered that.  What I would have done with it is another thing entirely...I'd probably still be a photographer.   Who happened to know a lot about folklore. :)

I married my high school sweetheart.  We've been together nearly 10 years, married for 5 (though 2 of those dating years we spent apart while he served a mission to Canada for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  And yes, I wrote him the whole time.)  We have one little boy who is almost 2.  He probably is the most gorgeous being to ever walk the planet.I don't mind looking like a big geek most of the time.  I've embraced it, actually.  Looking cool isn't worth the effort!Last but not least, I love my job.  I grew up drawing princesses and princes and castles, and somehow found a job that lets me work with the closest modern equivalent to that every day. Plus I am a hopeless romantic.  Love moves me.  Intensity, vulnerability, contentment, passion, jubilation, serenity, joy...all things I get to witness every day when I'm shooting these young couples before and on their wedding day.  Can there be anything better? Photography, for me, was an almost accidental offshoot of my art background, but once I picked up that camera, everything fell right into place.I write in my spare time. (When I have spare time!)  Currently I'm working on a novel that may never see the light of day, but I don't really mind.  It makes me happy. :)

  1. Great pics as usual. One of the best wedding photographers I know of.

  2. you’re amazing… I can’t wait to have you take my pictures of my family! Maybe one day if I ever get married you can take those pics too lol!

  3. I had Crystal do my engagements, bridals, and wedding photography. Not only is Crystal an AMAZING photographer she is very down to earth and really gets to know her clients. I don’t like getting my picture taken and I tend to get a little awkward in front of a camera but with Crystal this was never a problem. I didn’t feel like she was my photographer, more like a long lost friend that we could joke around and goof off with. This made the sessions so much more relaxed and fun. I refer everybody i know in need of a photographer to Crystal, because I know they will not be disappointed. She is very up front in prices/fees and the time it take to get the picture back. Crystal is my go to photographer, the only reason I would go to another photographer is if Crystal was otherwise booked or not available when I needed her. CRYSTAL ROCKS!

  4. Wow I really like this post.

  5. Crystal, it’s a good thing you are such a good photographer, otherwise you’d have to come back here! Your work is beautiful!!!

  6. GO CRYSTAL GO! She is genius! When we talk about photography I think we could go on and on and on….is it me? THanks for all my questions girl!
