My name is Ashlee, I have full time desk job, I am a wife, and I have a 2 year old lab that has more energy then any 2 year old child I've ever met!
I've been taking pictures for as long as I can remember! I got my first SLR camera in 7th grade and fell in love with it {i still own it and shoot with it from time to time} there is something about film that you will never be able to replace with digital. My favorite part about photography is being able to capture things from my point of view and show people that there is beauty in every thing around us.I shot my first wedding in 2006 but didn't go into business until 2009. My goal as a photographer is to shoot from my heart and make every client feel comfortable and beautiful! I love getting to know my clients on a personal level so that I can create images and memories who they are, and not who I think they should be.
I love being a wedding photographer! Spending one of the most important days with my clients and capturing their love for each other is one of the most amazing things to me! I love getting caught up in the moment and being able to capture those moments in images that will be cherished forever.

Short Bio:
It is an honor to be highlighted on you website, because some of my very favorite photographers have been featured here in the past. I have loved photography since I was just a little girl, but it wasn’t until I had a family of my own that my opportunities to begin shooting and experimenting with photography became more serious. Now that my six children are mostly grown, with the youngest being 14, I have more time to pursue things that I really love to do in addition to being a mom, and photography is it! My family is relieved beyond measure, since I no longer have my camera stuck in their face for every event that they are involved in. I am able to get my photography fix on other people now!
When I was young, my family did a lot of traveling overseas. My mother trusted me enough with her camera that I became the designated photographer on many of our trips. On one occasion, when I was about 9 or 10, a plane we were flying in over Africa was asked to delay landing for some unknown reason. To pass the time, the pilot flew the plane around the top of Mount Kilimanjaro a couple of times, and my mother handed over the camera for me to start shooting. I took an entire roll of images through the plane’s window and they came out beautifully. To this day, one of those photos is enlarged and framed in my parents home. Ever since that experience, I have always felt like I was capable of taking a pretty good picture!
I enjoy all kinds of photography, but focusing on individuals and couples is my favorite thing to do. That’s why I love to shoot wedding photography, as well as high school seniors. They are by far the most fun to be with. They have to many interesting things to talk about and such big dreams to share.
I have enjoyed creating my business, and am continually trying to learn all that I can to improve my skills. I prefer not to get locked into one kind of style, but I tend to be drawn to rich and vibrant colors, and I absolutely love a slightly over-processed look to my editing. If you are ever in Salt Lake City and are looking for a photographer, look me up and let’s go have some fun!

A Word From the Photographer:
You can read more about how I got into photography on a post I wrote here:
I keep very busy doing weddings and enjoy doing them a lot.
One of my big passions is in traveling and I'm lucky that weddings take me all over the country.
I take a lot of travel pictures but will need to wait until later down the road to find time to do much with them.
I feel very thankful that I am able to make a good living doing full time the thing I love to do.
I love that it means helping people and providing a valuable service.
I try to make my blog a great place to come and learn things about photography and see what I'm up to in my own photography.

I am an artist, a wife, and a consummate romantic. I have a minimally processed photographic style with modern touches. My mother always said that makeup should make us look like our best selves – not like we’re wearing makeup. I feel the same way about the post production of my work. I’m reflecting the beauty of who people are – their best selves – and not making them look like something they’re not. Good post production is subtle.
I began my love of photography with a strong desire to create beauty in high school. I found other loves that I studied in college, but found myself right back where I belonged after graduating. I’m blessed to have a family that I love to spend time with and a growing business that desires my time as well. My biggest challenge is finding the work/life balance – something that I suspect will be a constant. J
I shoot all of my weddings with my husband, Edward, who is my partner in the business. I’m blessed to be able to work with him, and our clients benefit from his great eye and grounded personality. We love working together.
I'm a member of the Professional Photographers of America and Wedding Professional Photographers International.

Photography has been a beautiful journey for me. When I started booking weddings, it was because I needed something to support this expensive habit of buying cameras and lenses. But the more I did it, the more I enjoyed being there in the moment, seeing things in a way that no one else would. No wedding is the same, and each is an opportunity to push myself artistically. Also, I try to keep commercialization from creeping into my work. I believe that real art involves people and relationships, as well as a lot of time, heart, and hard work. It's a process of giving freely and receiving with open hands. It's always my hope that my images reflect those values.

I grew up one of three girls, I was the middle. I became very independent, strong minded, strong willed and responsible at a very young age. I was always concerned about others and dreaded the thought of anyone being mad at me. I honored and respected my parents. I had dreams to be someone...someone successful. I wasn't sure how I would acheive that. I spent time going to college,
working, then trying to find myself while being a nanny across the country. After returning to where I called home, two weeks later I met my sweet husband. We were inseparable, in a whirlwhind romance, constantly joined at the hip. Eight months later we were married. Six months after that, we were expecting our first little baby. After becoming a mommy, it became one of the biggest parts of defining my success. Longing for the baby pictures that were never taken of me, I started to become obsessive with recording my own babies life. There grew my love for photograhy and one other way of defining my own success. Along the years, more children blessed and enriched my life. And each of them helped to nourish, cultivate, and strengthen my desire to learn photography. I was always told I had an eye when others saw my work. It encouraged me and I eventually took the plunge and bought my first Digital SLR camera in 2008. Many friends and family helped me practice by being my subjects. And many other photographers inspired me all the while deepening my strong urge to pursue this passion. While at first my love for photography was self-serving, I really saw the happiness I brought to others when taking pictures for them. They say you find pure joy in serving others, that you lose yourself in service and your problems become the least of your worries. My way to serve others is to help them keep the memories they hold dear to their hearts. I'm lucky to have found something that is my passion in which not only benefits me, but all those around me as well.

I began my work as a photographer in high school after I bought a camera and lens off of my brother. I fell in love with photography, and majored in art with a concentration in photography at the University of Virginia.
2005 found me in Nicaragua documenting Orphans for Nicaraguan Orphan Fund via Orphan Network. I was terrible, and learned quickly how to adapt to light changes, environment, and how to capture the reality of each moment and person.
In 2006, I began working for Holland Photo Arts (ahhhmazing photographers from Charlottesville, VA) - and they trained me on the craft of documenting weddings. In 2008, I began my own business, Eric Kelley Photography. Since 2006, I have had the privilege of documenting over 100 weddings in Virginia and on-location: California, New York, Brazil, Texas, Dominican Republic, Oregon and Washington.
Photography is my passion. Daily life finds me documenting people, events, homes, news for editorial work, capturing the intricacies of nature, snapping shots of my wife and son, and basically relishing the beauty of the world. I also love the post-production aspect of my job that allows me to create concepts for photography sessions or weddings for the client's taste. This is art, and I love it.
My wife, Lora Kelly, works with me to do hair and make up for the brides during the bridal shoots.

"I love weddings when the couple is really in love and aren't afraid to be affectionate and show it! Or when my bride is so creative and comes up with the coolest ideas!!! I am a detailed person who loves organization, so I enjoy the planning side of weddings...helping my brides with timelines, details, and ideas.
My goal for 2010 is to really watch and capture that moment in between the moment- like just right before or after a sweet kiss, or the emotion of a dad and daughter dancing...I want that emotion to show thru my images and tell the story.
I love children photography when they cooperate. Ha! I love to shoot kiddos when they laugh and play and babies when they sleep. I love to capture families that are close and lovey dovey, and like being silly! Maternity is my most challenging, I enjoy it but the posing and ideas don't come as easy for me. I like to do it but will probably be better at it once I've experienced being pregnant myself!
Probably my most favorite though would be engagement pix. I love to see the newness of the relationship and love with engagement pix. I love when couples are giggly and sweet with each other, and when they love to do fun pix!"

- Interesting Personal Fact:I love to shoot dance performances in my kilt. Its dressy, and it has some big pockets (Utilikilt) for holding all that crap we need to carry around. Short Bio - I started in photography as a kid when my grandparents gave me an Argus 126 camera for christmas one year. I burned thru a lot of film before the economics of it all outstripped my modest 8 year-old finances. Much later on I picked up a camera when digital was just starting to catch on and before long I was back learning traditional photography and working in my own darkroom. I worked as a designer at Adobe and gravitated towards the photo side of their offerings, working on Photoshop, Camera Raw and finally Lightroom - a product which I'm very proud of and use to this day.
I spent the better part of 5 years doing mainly fine art street photography - prowling the streets with my Leica and learning how to edit my work. I kinda stumbled into dance photography when I suggested a small project with a local studio where my daughter was dancing. One thing lead to another and now I find myself shooting several big dance events a year in the Seattle area and am the studio photographer for Emerald Ballet Theatre in Bellevue, Wa. Dancers moving fast in dark environments have really pushed me technically, and I've been really happy with the improvements in hardware over the past 5 years.
My style has morphed over the past decade, and what was once a body of very traditional, very rigid black & white work has morphed into a much more varied presentation using colors, toning and more than a few vignettes. Lightroom has had a huge impact on that broadening focus beyond my comfort zone. I shoot a lot more these days, and as my volume has increased, I've actually handed off the proofing, sales and printing to SmugMug and its pro lab which has saved me a huge amount of time.
I don't do much active marketing per se, but I pick up a manageable volume of family, senior and portraiture work thru the dance studios clientele - its a nice symbiosis.
Each year brings a new bunch of stuff to learn, and I enjoy the challenges photography brings. Furthermore, I find a lot of inspiration with both the contemporary and historical work out there. I'm a huge fan of using the social media outlets, especially twitter and facebook to publicize my work and I'm amazed at the connections I've made thru that venue. I try to limit my follows, but those I do constantly impress.
My job designing photographer tools for the last decade has allowed me to travel, attend conferences (you'll always find me at WPPI & PPE) and meet with some great artists and interesting people.
Finally, I do a weekly roundup of the important happenings in the Lightroom world, entitled "Lightroom Tuesday" that is chalk full of tutorials, tips and tricks for making the most of today's outstanding workflow software. Follow me on Twitter for the weekly reminders.
Its a great time to be a photographer.

Short Bio - Everybody who knows me knows that I delight in telling a good story and that is what draws me to wedding photography. I love the mix of fine art and photojournalism. I am blessed to be very intuitive and creative which makes photography and working with people a perfect fit for me. Designing wedding albums gives me the chance to beautifully illustrate the story of the wedding day. I started off working in all of the Milwaukee area hospitals doing newborn photography. When I tell people I am a wedding photographer they often ask me about bridezillas but I tell them that if I can make a women happy who has just had a baby, is exhausted, overwhelmed and emotional, I can handle anything the wedding day throws at me. I am currently focusing primarily on weddings but later this year I will be expanding that focus to include maternity, baby, and family photography so I can keep telling the stories of my clients. It seems weird to call them clients because they feel more like friends. I am a wife and mother of two great kids. When I'm not photographing I love to garden, go to Comedy Sportz and hang out with my family.

Short Bio - Hey everyone!! I am Crystal, the C in R+C Photography. I am a mommy to 4 kids and a wife to the most amazing and supportive man alive!!
I was always interested in photography. However, I never had the money to invest in an SLR to learn. When I got married to my husband his sister owned her own sports photography business, and let me borrow their Nikon. I used and abused that little camera for about a year, before they needed it back. When I had to give it back, I felt like a piece of me was missing, and that is when I realized, that my "hobby" was turning into something more.
Then my 2 year old was born, and from there it grew into what it is today. I met Rachel about a year ago and that is when we formed R+C Photography. Shooting with her is a blast. We both bring something completely different to the table, in regards to technical skills, artistic vision, and business savyness.
Our personalities are different enough that we can find some common ground with almost every client. In fact a lot of our clients remain very close friends with us to this day, and this is how we prefer to run our business. I love shooting with a partner. I love having someone to bounce ideas off of, and of course we challenge each other to get better. We are always striving to "one up" our previous shoot. We talk about what we learned from each shoot, and what we can do different next time, and what we liked that time.
To wrap it up lol, shooting together as a partnership, and more then that, as friends, is what makes us unique!!!

That is how my love of photography began. I saw the world through a lens and fell

Even now, when I'm shooting weddings I live by that love. The love to capture something unique and to show others how it was not only beautiful but full of emotion. Short Bio - My name is Dawn McCarthy and I am a professional wedding photographer. I positively LOVE what I do! There is not a happier day in a woman’s life than her wedding day… well, okay... maybe those women who have won the lottery feel differently, but I am basing this statement on the average woman. I thrive on witnessing the love and blissful emotion between two people who are about to commit their lives to one another. I have a personal goal in every wedding that I shoot to provide my Brides with a tangible, everlasting reflection of the dream day that escaped them far too fast! I pay strict attention to detail, but evoke a light-hearted spirit that has been said to “put you at ease on the most important day of your life.” I love everything about weddings and I am always anxious to meet my next Bride…might you be her?
In addition to my insatiable passion for photography, I am a wife and a mom. I have been married for ten years (on the 17th of this month) to my college sweetheart and I am raising two boys who are undeniably the loves of my life! I have a thick southern accent that tends to make people smile and say “where do you come from?” But don't let the accent fool you! I am quite the savvy business woman. And I am a force to be reckoned with in my kitchen! An invitation to supper at my house is usually a coveted prize. You wanna come? I'll feed ya! If I had to pick a few adjectives to describe myself, I suppose they would be: determined, fierce, creative, honest and completely genuine. I’m just me. It’s been so nice to meet ‘cha.

Short Bio: Eric's interest in photography started in high school and later turned into a BFA degree (focus on photography) from Penn State University. Working for some local photographers after graduating, he photographed friends' weddings on the side and ended up enjoying it a lot more than he anticipated. His name spread via word-of-mouth and now books up to 45 weddings in a given season. He strives to keep the wedding day fun and enjoyable for everyone involved and stays true to his candid but dramatic style he is known for. His hard work and endless time put into post-processing (aka, hours spent in Lightroom and Photoshop) really pays off with how continually satisfied his clients are with their final images. He works along side his talented fiancé who is always there to hold a light or get the shots that count. Eric looks forward to creating great memories in many weddings for years to come.

Short Bio: Oh lets see. I love tell the story about how I got started, mostly because it's pretty crazy. I had a fav photog who moved to Southern California and I pretty much freaked out because she took ALL the photos of my children. So I decided that the last session we had scheduled I would take mental notes of her equipment and just go and buy everything that I needed to do what she was doing. So after leaving the amera store with over $10K of equipment, I thought I was a "professional". My husband came home to find me in tears in our living room with a camera that had a black LCD screen. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS DOING. Nothing was returnable and I was up the creek. I mean, I bought a 35mm lens cause the "35mm" sounded like "photo stuff" and I thought I needed it....I truly didn't even know what aperture was or ANYTHING. The learning curve was quit humbling to say the least.
Always up for learning (I have a Master's Degree in Education), I decided this was not going to get the best of me. The idea was to be able to take photos of my children, not really to start a business. Soon it became a healthy addiction and an artistic outlet. It was "me" time as all parents out there know you need that "me" time to indulge in your favorite hobbies. It was amazing to me that I could actually start making money doing this, I love it, still do.
I started to follow AMAZING photographers and learn from them. My early mentors who have now become friends are Bob and Dawn Davis. They started my career. I truly believe that. I took their workshop first, it was amazing and things have never been the same. I started simply with portraits, afraid to take on weddings, but realized soon enough, weddings are a LONG portrait session with a great story to tell. Then I was hooked. I blame and thank Mike Colon and his workshop on getting a lot of my business together, marketing etc. I have been really fortunate to have met some amazing people in this industry and if there is any advice I can give to those you start, do what you love first, and reach out to others. Without my early mentors, I would most likely still be lost.
A few short years later, I have a studio in Irvine. I have amazing clients both portraits and weddings. I have won Accolade and Merit Awards in both WPPI as well as PPOC. I plan on entering more images, and more and more. I continue to learn, I'll never stop learning, but now I also teach! Imagine that, I actually teach those in my community how to use their consumer DSLRs as well as do some professional mentoring. I believe in myself, I am blessed to have others believe in me, I am determined as all hell, but I love it, I love it all and I get to live it everyday!

Short Bio: Hi, I'm Rachel, the R of R+C Photography. I'm a mom of 5 kids and I've always been passionate about documenting their lives.
My oldest two sons were officially diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in January of 2004–when they were 4 and 2, respectively–and it began to make sense why I could never get the studio settings of big chain photographers to work for them. We went for a long time without many really GOOD pictures of the boys, and as our family grew, I became more and more restless about this. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and learn photography! Once I had the skills to photograph my own sons in a way that they found comfortable, without harsh flashes or lots handling and posing, I wanted to share it with other families who faced the same challenges creating keepsakes of their family’s life.
Along the way, I’ve discovered I just love photographing everyone! So what started as a very focused journey in chronicling my own family’s story has become a passion and an artistic outlet.
Then, about a year ago, I met a fellow photographer, Crystal Pickering, and we formed R+C Photography. Shooting with a partner has been both a fun social outlet for me, and a great chance for each of us to push each other technically. We pride ourselves on our technical ability and creativity. We like to stay up-to-date with the latest trends, but we also study the history of photography and art, so that we can understand all of the good stuff. I think our friendship and personalities come out during each shoot, and clients are quickly at ease. In fact, some of our brides have literally become BFFs with us. In short--too late--working as friends and partners makes all the difference for us.
